Our Past Projects

Our past projects encompass the entire East Cape area of Baja California Sur (and beyond).
 

LOS BARRILES
 

  • Fountain:  painted, sealed, landscaping, new pumps, ongoing maintenance 
  • Taste of East Cape fundraiser and showcase for local restaurants
  • East Cape Clinic:  x-ray, medical equipment, health screenings, pre-natal/post-natal care outreach
  • Library:  remodel/expansion, computers for tech center, books
  • Elementary school:  food prep area, roofed cement patio, outdoor tables with benches
  • Centro de Salud:  remodel to provide lodging for doctors, structural improvements, mold treatment, medical equipment
  • Concha:  built bathroom, ticket booth, fencing, gate, storage, roof drainage,  landscaping, basketball hoops, sports equipment
  • Tech Center:  computers, desks, tables, chairs for general public access to internet
  • Laguna Park:  stage, dressing rooms, lighting, parking lot remodel to provide separate exit, volleyball sand, new breaker switches, plaque recognizing donors
  • El Ancon sports park:  repaired bleachers, backstop, built toilets, team sponsorship
  • Painted topes
    Books for schools in cooperation with Arts Association
  • Lord of the Winds:  annual kiteboarding event to stimulate local businesses
  •  Supported local youth with science projects
  • Mosquito abatement equipment donated to La Paz for Los Barriles
  • Semana Santa activity support and cleanup
  • Carnaval parade and festivities
  • Day of the Dead festivities support
  • Interact (Rotary youth club):  food distribution during Covid crisis, leadership training trip to Canada, Buena Vista playground refurbishment, Taste of East Cape support, host of U.S. Interact clubs, help with spay/neuter clinics, help with health screenings, Christmas toy distribution, fountain mural
  • Trash clean up:  fountain area, old bus depot, Parque Laguna, beach
     

LA RIBERA
 

  • Albergue La Ribera:  new water pump and pump house, patch & paint exterior and interior, refurbish bathrooms, cafeteria air conditioning, new freezer, food  supplies, water purifier, drinking faucet, computers, bedding, mattresses, curtains, sports equipment
  • Tech center:  computers, desks, tables, chairs

  • Albergue Santiago:  patch and paint exterior and interior,  rooftop tenacas,  cafeteria air conditioning, clothes drier, drinking faucet, water pump & pump enclosure, lockers, beds, mattresses, chicken coop, vegetable garden, tree trimming

DISASTER RELIEF
 

  • Hurricane John:  distributed water and water filters throughout East Cape
  • Hurricane Odile:  $30,000 for blankets, water, building materials
  • Santiago fire:  building materials
     

HEALTHY WATER FOR BAJA
 

  • Distributed 1500 water filters to rural East Cape families, benefitting over 5,000 people

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE
 

  • Host many Rotarians from other countries for work projects, fundraising, and better understanding of Mexico.
